Alex Chiavolini
Practice Manager, Clinical Supervisor, Counsellor and Psychotherapist

Alex Chiavolini offering counselling in Leicester

Location: South Leicestershire

Alex is the Practice Manager and Lead Clinician for Sullivan & Associates and is our key and initial point of contact. She manages contracts, delivery of training and new business; bringing her considerable experience in these areas to the practice.

She began her training by completing a BSc (Hons) in Psychology and a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling, is a BACP Registered and Accredited Psychotherapist, and a clinical supervisor. Alex is also Relate trained, qualified to work with couples, young people and families.Alex has over fifteen years of experience working within the Criminal Justice system (in offender management, victim contact and prison settings).

She currently provides clinical supervision and psychotherapy to prison officers, social workers, youth offending and probation staff and organisations working with perpetrators and victims of domestic and sexual violence. In addition, Alex provides a psychotherapy service for students and staff in secondary schools and sees clients at her own premises in South Leicestershire.

Her integrative approach, using CBT, psychodynamic and systemic techniques are usefully employed as Alex offers a range of clinical interventions, including trauma-based psychotherapy, anxiety management, life and management coaching.

Dr Judith Sullivan
Practice Founder, Senior Accredited Psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor

Location: Leicester

Judith has been a qualified psychotherapist and clinical supervisor for over thirty years. Her clinical experience was gained in both the public (NHS, emergency services, prisons and probation) and private sectors.

Her expertise includes systemic therapy, life and management coaching, mediation, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, EMDR, post trauma support and motivational interviewing. Her Master’s Degree researched cross disciplinary clinical supervision and her Doctorate in Psychotherapy focused on the provision of organisational post trauma support.

Judith started Sullivan & Associates more than ten years ago and now works part time from her premises in Leicester.

Kate Angell
Counsellor and Psychotherapist


Location: Foxton

Kate is an experienced counsellor who holds a first class degree in Counselling & Psychotherapy, in addition to her Psychology degree. She has been involved with various mental health organisations over the last ten years; these include Anxiety UK, Samaritans and Leicester Counselling Centre.

She has also worked for the National Lottery, helping recent winners and their families by supporting them as they come to terms with their change of circumstances. Kate assists a wide variety of clients at her practice near Market Harborough, offering both short and long term therapy. In addition, she accepts referrals from Employee Assistance Programmes and works for our practice by undertaking on-site sessions for staff within the Criminal Justice system, predominantly within a prison setting.

Kate’s particular interests are in offering therapy for childhood trauma, anxiety, depression and low self-esteem. Her therapeutic approach is Integrative and she uses her training, experience and understanding to offer clients a tailored approach which may incorporate humanistic, psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural therapy techniques.Kate offers appointments to adults and young people over the age of fourteen.

Luan Baines-Ball
Counsellor, Psychotherapist & Clinical Supervisor

Location: Leicester City Centre

Luan established the practice in 2008, following a background in Medical Communications.

Luan works with individuals (16+), and couples+, and covers a range of difficulties. Luan has particular interests in the impact of early separation on adult relationships and working with people who identify as gender, sexual and/or relationship diverse.

Luan also provides clinical supervision to trainee, newly qualified and experienced counsellors and psychotherapists and also provides consultancy services for people working with GSRD/LGBTQ+ clients.

Luan is a Registered and Senior Accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). Counselling sessions can be face-face at the Leicester practice or online.

Lisa Cross
Play Therapist

Location: Leicester

Lisa is a Certified Play Therapist and a dual registered nurse in the fields of Mental Health and Learning Disability. She has qualifications in Child and Adolescent Mental Health and is a Level 2 Theraplay® practitioner.

​Lisa specialises in therapeutically supporting children from the age of three onwards, together with their families, and has done so for more than fifteen years. Her experience includes working with children and young people on child protection plans, children looked after by the local authority and pre & post adoption.  She provides Play Therapy in schools, working with children and young people who present with emotional, educational and behavioural issues.  Prior to this Lisa worked with learning disabled children and adolescents with severe mental health difficulties exhibiting challenging behaviour.

​A warm, talented and approachable individual, Lisa brings a wealth of experience to the practice  and continues to help children, young people and families from diverse backgrounds and often very difficult circumstances to grow and change.

Nicola Flinn
Psychotherapist and Clinical Psychologist

Location: Market Harborough and Uppingham

Nicola has worked in a clinical setting for the past eight years. Her focus has been on working with individuals suffering from anxiety and depression and couples with relational problems.

Nicola holds a MA Clinical Psychology with an Emphasis in Marriage Family Therapy.

In addition her experience extends to treating individuals with anxiety (including and not limited to health anxiety, social anxiety and OCD) and depression in addition to trauma, grief, eating disorders, IBS, Functional Neurological Disorders and couples with relationship issues.

Phil Pinchen
Counsellor and Psychotherapist

North Leicestershire

Phil is a qualified, integrative counsellor and psychotherapist with experience gained in both the voluntary sector and private practice.
Previously offering therapy in a charity setting, Phil worked with those affected by serious and life-limiting illnesses.  He has also counselled clients who have experienced sexual, physical and/or mental abuse.   Phil’s twenty years of experience in a corporate environment gives him an understanding and interest in working with clients to achieve a healthy work/life balance.

Now focusing on his private practice, Phil works with individuals, families and couples presenting with a variety of concerns, such as stress, anxiety, bereavement and depression.

Jon Roberts
Counsellor and Psychotherapist

Location: Leicester City Centre

Jon’s specialism comes supporting his clients as they address their substance misuse and addictive behaviours.

After graduating from de Montfort university he retrained as a drug and alcohol counsellor; first at Vaughan College (psychodynamic) for two years before going on to graduate from University of Leicester.

Jon has gained valuable experience working in a range of clinical settings over eight years including Leicestershire and Rutland Probation Trust, NHS partnerships and other established local and national treatment services.

Jon also provides a number of learning resources including peer mentor training and mutual aid facilitation.

Michelle Seabrook
Counsellor, Psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor

Leicester City Centre & Kibworth

Michelle works in private practice with adults and young people (16+), and also clinical supervision.Prior to this, Michelle was a qualified Probation Officer, working both in the community and in custodial establishments.

Her areas of interest include practitioner self-care, trauma, and the therapeutic/supervisory relationship. Michelle is a registered and accredited member of BACP. She has been practising since 2008. 

She is currently undertaking a Doctorate in Counselling & Psychotherapy, researching self-care in clinical supervision. Michelle also offers self-care/resiliency training and consultancy to individuals and organisations.
